Sir Richard Bishop

Richard Bishop, guitarist and founding member of the band Sun City Girls (1981-2007), released his first solo record (Salvador Kali) in 1998 on John Fahey’s esteemed Revenant label under the moniker Sir Richard Bishop. Since then he has released albums on a variety of labels: Improvika, Elektronika Demonika, and While My Guitar Violently Bleeds (Locust Music), Fingering the Devil (Southern Records, UK), Hypostasis: A Work in Three Parts (VDSQ), Intermezzo (Editions Mego), The Unrock Tapes and Road to Siam (Unrock), Polytheistic Fragments, The Freak of Araby, Tangier Sessions, and Oneiric Formulary (Drag City). “Sir Richard Bishop forces one to alter that hoary cliche to ‘jack of all trades, master of…damn near all.’ Renowned for his mercurial guitar-playing for 26 years with Seattle ethno-delic legends Sun City Girls, Bishop has wrought a distinguished solo canon as well. He combines soulfulness and advanced technique with a panache that’s nearly unrivaled among today’s guitarists. Bishop strums spiritual with incantatory ragas, free-folk excursions, crystalline flamenco flourishes, ruddy Appalachian folk, Middle Eastern-tinged fantasias and gypsy arabesques. This is eclecticism done with respect and third-eye-dilating filigree; his compositions attain a sepia-toned wistfulness and a psychedelic complexity.” - Dave Segal (OC Weekly)

F-Space

The pyro-industrial band F-Space were formed in San Francisco, CA, in 1997 by pyrotechnic sound artist Scot Jenerik and Savage Republic guitarist Ethan Port. Chrome drummer Aleph Kali Omega joined 2002-2014. Agalloch bassist Jason Walton joined in 2020.

The F-Space's sound has been described as a “seething sepulchral sound of post Industrial-Punk. Densely subterranean tribal percussion, resonating Middle Eastern guitar, atmospheric ambience, and dissonant metallic clanging reminiscent of Einsturzende Neubauten and Throbbing Gristle immerse you into a cataclysmic realm of subtle beauty and extreme chaos.”

Early performances were chaotic and involved an excessive amount of fire from Jenerik’s hand built pyro-infused percussion instruments. Port kept pace with a sonic monotone guitar wash, tinged with middle eastern references. Needless to say, they were a mainstay of the late 90’s Burning Man scene. Their first live performance was at Burning Man on August 28, 1997. In 2002 Chrome drummer Aleph Kali Omega joined the band to provide a solid foundation to the chaos produced by Jenerik and Port. Omega was unavailable for a US tour at the end of the year. Joel Connell of Man Is The Bastard joined on drums for the tour and is featured on “Charity And Hope’ from their 2003 debut album “Preliminary Impact Report”. The album was described as “an apocalyptic, feral, destructive trance state implying a catastrophic act of nature, a march through the desert on the path to war, or an offender's mental state during a crime of passion.”

Avola

Veronica “Vern” Avola is a composer, multimedia artist, instructor and champion of friendship, born in Italy and based in Portland, Oregon. She founded EMS Records. Avola’s solo sound works uses deep electronic sounds to geomap the hidden layers that also come with a given “present moment”; from the guttural subterranean or the hallways of the earthly punk and DIY culture to consensual abduction and flight. Avola’s compositions hold space for these physical stretches that become emblems of safety when society faces a truth in zero control within a political predestination. In this process Avola brings an ability back to the listener to think and exist outside of man’s algorithm. Avola performs this work internationally and has released several albums on Sige Recordings, An Out Recordings, Accident Prone Records, Gravity Records and Nadine Records. Avola has other collaborative works with Daniel Menche (Bear Spray), Ian Gorman Weiland (Elrond), Vo Vo and Dead (Castlemaine, Australia). Cexfucx

Drummer in red cap in front of band with several other drummers.

Mark Kaylor: "Cex Fucx began as a "party band", the 1st show being in the Northeast Portland basement where I was living during the early 2000’s. The original lineup consisted of JP Jenkins (guitar), Kelvin Pittman (piano), Gabriel Saloman (vocals/effects), Eva Saelens (vocals), Shane "Papa Sweat" Schneider (bass), and Mark Kaylor (drums). The name Cex Fucx originated from the phone number of the newly opened 411 space in the industrial section of inner SE Portland. The digits corresponding to the phone number of the space were CEX FUCX. Over the years the group shrank to a trio (Jenkins/Kaylor/Schneider) and expanded to an octet or more.

Their unique live instrumentation includes Nola Pierce (Moon Pine) on Wurltizter piano, vocals and moog synth bass, Michael Dieter (White Manna, DDT) on guitar and vocals as well as John Daren Thomas (ex-Nik Turner's Hawkwind, Albert Lee, Idaho). Most recent works recorded with Tim Green have been bio-regional compositions that seek a connection to place. One half written and reflecting the great Mojave desert snd the other the tangled forests of the Klamath mountains of northern California and southern Oregon. After sheltering in various wild environs for the past couple of years the band is thrilled to start playing these new works for new ears.

Anthea Zeltzman and Jo Temple

Anthea and Jo have been collaborating artistically since 2006. In each other, they have each found their co-conspirator, their Goto wing person, invariably on board for a wacky idea. Multitaskers (as artists and parents who Involve their children in their work must be), Anthea and Jo understand that creativity doesn't die with parental responsibility. Instead they allow for evolution and embrace the belief that there is value in creating without perfectionism, and creating despite the often ephemeral nature of artwork made from trash or, say, food.

VCR TV - Kyle Reese

VCR TV is the catch-all title for the work produced by multimedia artist Kyle Reese. Weekly radio shows, and video art installations and production are the most consistent manifestations. VCR TV is directly influenced by 1980’s cable television, old commercials, movie soundtracks, video rental stores, neon lighting, synthesizers, VHS as a format, televisions as a medium. Ultimately the main idea is intersecting movies & music, to create an immersive, familiar, and fun experience for the viewer.

Midori Hirose

Midori Hirose (born in Hood River, OR) is a Japanese American interdisciplinary artist currently based in Portland, OR. Hirose explores themes of memory, transformation, and connection using playful nuance to discover new modes of communication. In her work, community bonds, recognizing space as a necessary part of the generative process through collaborations, historical narrative, perception (physiological and psychological), and storytelling are interchangeable with physical objects and materials. Research, materials, and techniques become animate models of emergent taxonomy. Hirose calls her relationship to this history "material storytelling." She sees her sculptures as dimensional illustrations of these investigations. They are metaphors for the complexity of knowing.

Let’s dissolve our sadness together by entering The House That Jax Built for celebration or simple reflection.

Locust

Locust is a San Francisco multimedia artist that deals with topics such as science, metaphysics, life, and struggle. His paintings juxtapose digital forms with anatomical themes often linked to technology, death, and decay.

His art gives aesthetic pleasure and thus attracts attention as a form of art provocation. He was born and raised in Michigan but later shifted to San Francisco where he proved himself as an eminent street artist. His work is free from perceived confines of the formal art world. Locust feels circuitry and that is how he expresses the energy that he moves through things. Through his imagination and creativity he brings to life the circuitry and anatomy for the viewer which would otherwise be invisible to normal eyes.

Muffie Delgado Connelly and Tahni Holt

Muffie and Tahni are collaborators who work in the material of improvisational dance scores and choreography that is responsive to the multiplicity of their location in real time. We dance with our land bodies, with ancestor bodies, with no bodies. We invite ongoing states of mystery and unknowing to destabilize knowledge as this is the place when something else gets to exist. Our work is a transmission and seeks to expand through networks of underground, invisible and sensorial pathways--assuming forms of shared experiential knowledge and lineage passed through the cells of every person and the mother body. Dance making is a way to imagine and question and reside in the liminal space, where unraveling is not a marker of failure but one of great power and intrigue. We believe that the body—from cells to mind to limbs—is the site of revolutionary possibility in terms of telling stories and re-envisioning what this world might be. Muffie and Tahni have been working together in a constellation of multiple forms since 2016. Currently they are working on Pulse Mountain, a performance to premier in fall of 2022. Pulse Mountain quantum leaps into the Dundee campout. We invite you to join us here, in this moment, and revel in the sensations of our togetherness. This is for you.
